Catherine Allen was born on April 14, 1934, in King and Queen, VA, to Bessie A. and George R. Frazier. Catherine accepted our Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized into Christianity in the country waters in Walkerton, VA. She was educated in Virginia’s Public School System. Catherine had a plethora of jobs over her lifetime, many of which were with the Commonwealth of Virginia, including the Department of Health, Department of Accounts, Department of Motor Vehicles, and Social Security. She was also employed with Best Products department store. Catherine was known for her work ethic, strong, driven nature, and warm temperament towards others.
Catherine began to have a desire to integrate Christianity into not only her everyday life but also her free time, which led to her becoming a member of Trinity Baptist Church and later, Rock Hill Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her health began to decline. She was a long-time dedicated and committed member of Henrico 78 Order of the Eastern Star, Mocha Court No. 42, and many other organizations. Being a member of the Prince Hall Affiliated Mocha Court No. 42, she served in numerous roles and positions, including Past Illustrious Commandress and Treasurer; Past Matron of Henrico 78; Past Loyal Lady Ruler, Richmond Assembly 22 Tennessee Order of Golden Circle; Past Grand Ancient Matron of Gilgal Grand Court of the Heroines of Jericho; Past Grand Matron of Lydia Court No. 2, Ladies of the Circle of Perfection; Past Most Royal Grand Commandress of Cyrene of Virginia; and Past International Grand Princess, Cyrene Crusaders.
In 1960, she married the late Elmo Allen. Catherine later raised two children, together with her husband, and was affectionately called “mother” by many others.
Catherine was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2019, surrounded by family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Mr. and Mrs. George and Bessie Frazier, and eight siblings, Georgia Greene, Edmonia Coleman, Bertha Schools, Mary Jones, Clarece Buder, George Frazier, James Frazier, and Henry David Frazier.
Catherine leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Dina Allen and Antonio Allen; two grandchildren, Marcus Berry and Danielle Allen; two sisters, Evelyn Tunstall and Edith Harrison (Lewis); brother, Paul (Mary); and many nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives, and friends.
She is forever free from her sickness and pain and is now resting in the arms of our Savior, so, let us rejoice and be thankful for the time we shared with this wonderful woman.
